Good corporate governance - pointing out corporate directors who should and shouldn't be elected anywhere.
This is my attempt to keep track of good people for board of directors and keep track of people who should be avoided.
There was no "decided to spend more time with family" or anything like that. The Board decided to get in a new CEO.
Who's on this real board?
Leslie M. Baker, Jr. - former chairman and CEO of Wachovia
Zachary W. Carter - former US Attorney
Michael G. Cherkasky - the about to be former CEO..... This has to be uncomfortable
Oscar Fanjul - former chairman and CEO of Repsol YPF. On a lerge number of boards, including Unilever, and the International Accounting Standards committee.
Stephen R. Hardis - former chairman and CEO of Eaton. On a number of boards, including Lexmark and Progressive.
Gwendolyn S. King - former commissioner of the Social Security Administration. On the boards of Lockheed Martin and Monsanto.
Lord Lang of Monkton - former member of the British Parliament. Former president of the Board of Trade and secretary of state for trade and industry and secretary of state for Scotland. Okay, that's cool.
Marc D. Oken - former CFO of Bank of America.
David A. Olsen - former CEO of Johnson & Higgins. On the board of US Trust.
Morton O. Schapiro - President of Williams College
Adele Simmons - on the board since 1978 - that's a long gig. Involved in a number of social and charitable organizations.
That's a lot of CEOs on this board to have fired the CEO. Give them credit - it's due.
